Wild Thing

I have another brazier of hot movie goodness for you to warm up to.
"Cautiously Optimistic" is the reaction that I have gotten from most people when they heard about the Dark Crystal sequel in the works.
Now, there is another beloved classic on it's way to the screen. Not a sequel this time, but a live action film feature-length film adaptation of Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are"!
If you're unfamiliar with the book, then you should order it on Amazon now, or better yet, don't wait for shipping, and just grab a copy at the nearest bookstore. The artwork is fantastic, and the quirky story is just wonderful. This is one of those books that falls in the category of "all-time classic children's books".
While I'm not entirely sure how they'll stretch the story into a movie, it does have the author's blessing. It also has an interesting director, and one whose work I do enjoy. Spike Jonze is at the helm, and also co-wrote the script.
If you want to see the limited details so far, then let the rumpus begin.
Katherine Keener is set to play the mother in the film, and she mentions some cool tidbits here.
I love the idea of filming in the other-worldly locales of New Zealand, and the fact that Henson's team will be working on the monsters is perfection.
This is shaping up to have all the right pieces in place. Now, I just have to wait to see who they cast as Max, and just how cool he looks in his wolf suit...

Hey ya,
This is one of my DD's fav books. I hadnt heard about the movie version. You do know you are going to make me go look up stuff about the movie at 3 in the morn?. Not like I have anything better to do, like sleep for instance..lol
vixen :WAVES HI:
I only just heard the rumblings myself, but it's a really excellent book, and I hope they do a good version. All the pieces are in place, and I'm hoping for something wonderful.
I didn't mean to make you pull research duty at 3am...
Sleep is much more apropos at this time of night.
Nice to see you were curious enough, or crazy, to come take a look here.
*waves hand frantically in an exurberant "hello"!*
HA! and I thot I was bad up at 3am.
shoulda been working on finishing my HM model instead of on the net.
HMMMM...*jumps up and down, waves a flag, yells HOWDY, and hands you a lei* Ha! beat that one...LOL
vix
Well, I'm always up at that time of night. I have an excuse.
I wouldn't trust myself to work on the HM model in the middle of the night. I'd end up glueing a window sideways or something. That looks like something that would take patience to do well, and I tend to have a disposable amount of that in the wee hours of the morning(huh-huh, he said "wee")
*spinning like a dervish, leaping into a sommersault, pop-locking like Rerun, launching ballons and streamers, and doves that are trained to fly in formation to spell out the words "YAY VIXEN", pulls out a kazoo does a quick verse of grim grinning ghosts, and spills rose petals at your feet, while handing you a single lily presented in the top of a Puzz 3-D version of the Taj Mahal* Boo-Yah!
***vixen bows in absolute awe of the fantabulous elocution skills of myrddin***
YOU WIN>>>>LOL
not bad, I'm impressed and ty for the lily(I love them)
OH and you're too young to remember Rerun (unless of course you know him from reruns...ha ha-I made a funny)
You're quite welcome for the lily. With a name like "Vixen", seemed like a lily kinda girl.
I like them a lot too. When O'Keefe isn't painting "questionable" flora, she does some really nice paintings of lilies.
They're an unsung flower. Not that I don't have a lot of love for the rose as well, but there's something ghost-like and elegant to a lily.
Quite glad am I that my elocution doth not offend. When dealing with the genteel, I find it becoming to speak in the more beauteous echelons of verbiage. Verily, t'would never occur to me to do anything less than appeal to the graces of one such as thee, m'lady...
To your phunny pun, I was too young to see Rerun the first time around, but you can't deny the power of a big man in a beret that can move like that;)...
